Wondering if this is possible?

I have a data connection from a Sharepoint List. I want the user to select a
one or more records from this list, and then I want display more information
about the selected records.

For instance, maybe have a list of records with checkboxes beside each item.
The user would check the records he/she wants, and then click a button. Then
a section would appear containing more information about each selected record.

I know how to display the list, but not with checkboxes. Then I am stumped
on how to display only the selected ones.
