HI --

I'm trying to design an InfoPath form that will include a list of 10
locations. I was hoping to use check box controls so that more then one
location could be selected.

Could someone tell me if this is possible, and perhaps I'm just missing
something? Or is there a better way to approach this?

Thanks in advance, --Sarah

Hi Sarah,

You could use a "Repeating Table" control for this with 2 columns: one
would display the locations and the other you could change to a check box
control to allow for multiple selections.

Let me know if this works for you!

Thanks, Scott. Your post gives me something to think about. It also showed me
I have lots more to learn about InfoPath.

I will try your suggestion out and post how it went.

Thanks again, --Sarah

Sharepoint has a limitation on the number of Checkboxes fields that it will
convert to columns.  I'm curious how using a repeating table will work with
sharepoint.  I think Sharepoint will only allow 16 checkboxes.  If I wanted
to have more, for example 24 or so, would a repeating table do it? Or would I
still be constrained in some way by the Sharepoint limitations?

Hi Don,

Not sure what you mean. For instance, the limitation is on the number of
different fields so if your repeating table only has one checkbox field but
you have 30 records, I don't believe that would be an issue since you still
only have "one" checkbox field.

Well, I found I was creating a form to reserve a room and catering for our
office and it had all the date and time fields but it also had quite  a few
checkboxes. 24 in all.  The total number of files was close to 80.  I was  a
little surprised about that too, it didn't look like that many when I looked
at the form.  But I counted the data fields and it was true.

The problem was that when I published the form to Sharepoint some of the
Checkboxes didn't come over.  I thought it was because I had too many
checkboxes or maybe too many fields all together.  I don't know enough and
the MSKB post wasn't clear to me.

That's why I was asking.  It sounds as though it's worth looking at.
Althought I sure liked the checkboxes from a visual point of view, easier for
the user.

Thanks for the response

Hi Don,

As you have seen, there is a limit to the types of controls in Sharepoint.
This is not InfoPath specific - it is a design of Sharepoint. Have you see
the Knowledge Base article that documents this information? If not, I have
included the link below:
