I cant figure out why InfoPath cannot connect to SharePoint Services.

Last week I tested creating a secondary data source and it worked just fine...
Now I cant connect to SharePoint at all.

Error: "InfoPath either cannot connect to the data source or the service
has timed out."

Anyone know why InfoPath might not be able to connect to the server?

Thanks

Hi John,

From what you described, it is likely that something changed on your network
side (permission, performance, etc.).  Can you access SharePoint OK from your
machine (independently from InfoPath)?

Hello Franck,

Yes, I can access SharePoint just fine. Interestingly, after some testing
I discovered that I can create the data source in InfoPath by starting with
just the server name, and then navigate to the list via InfoPath prompts.
But then when I try to run the form it chokes and spits out the same error
as when I try to use the full list path when creating the data source.

I don't believe that anything changed on the server as I am also the network
admin and I didn't change anything. However, something had to of changed
somewhere because it did work not long ago.

Because I need to give a presentation on InfoPath next week I created a DB
in the same SharePoint instance of SQL Server to use for lookup fields, and
that is working just fine. I am also thinking about using the Data View Web
Part to show the data in SharePoint.

I will continue to try to solve this problem, though, so if anyone has any
ideas I will be grateful.

Thanks

It is indeed difficult to troubleshoot something like thing from a distance.
In your case, I would start from scratch with a new blank from to see if you
can get it to work with Sharepoint.  If it is working fine, then you know the
problem is within your template.

Good luck.

Hi,
I have the exact same problem.
I built an form with Infopath that has been used for about 10 months, but
since a month back (November) the form begin to behave like that.
I think the Infopath lose the connection to Sharepoint web services.
I even make a test that was creating a new blank form in infotpath that read
data from an Sharepoint library, and it works, a few seconds later it lost
the connection, and tell me "InfoPath either cannot connect to the data
source or the service has timed out."

I start to think it was something to do with the Office 2003 Service Pack 2,
but i uninstall the office completely and the problem persists. I even try in
several computers and the problem is te same.

Does anyone have a clue?
