Escaping ampersand (&) in pattern matching

Could someone please tell me how to include amersand (&) in custom pattern
matching? I have tried to escape & with a backslash and it didn't work.

Looks like I cannot use ampersand (&) in pattern matching. Is this a bug in
infopath?
