Hiding hint text for repeating section

I have a repeating section on an infoPath form that I need to users to be
able to add one (but only one) record to if they require. This record does
not exist by default, so if I use a section control (non repeating) the
entire section is not displayed if there is not an existing record. If I use
a repeating section the user can add the required record but I can't figure
out how to hide the hint text to stop additional records being created.

Hi,

One way to do it is to limit the number of rows to 1.  Do a search in this
Forum on "limit repeating", I posted code in the top thread if you are
interested.

Thanks Frank, do you know if it is possible to get the section to display
when the form is initially displayed even if there is no related record? (ie.
so the user doesn't have to click the 'insert item' link)

The way you describe it, it seems that you are using Optional Sections.  If
it is the case, right-click on the section at design time and click "Include
the section in the form by default".

I'm not using an optional section Frank (although perhaps I should be). I
have a form that retrieves and displays some basic information about a client
then allows the user to add 0...n contact group records each containing 0...n
contact name records (persons relevant to the contact event). If there are no
contact group records in the data source i still want a blank contact group
record to be displayed without the user having to click the 'insert item'
link.

Thanks for your advice

Sorry, I am still not following you.  If you create a new blank form and add
one repeating section with one text box inside.  When you run that template,
you have one section displayed by default, right?  Why can't you do that?

Thank you for your help Frank but I have to let this go for the moment.
Unfortunately I'm very new to InfoPath and do not yet have a good enough
grasp of the language to discribe my problem.

Thanks again
