Hi all,

Maybe sorry for this question, but I am very new at infopath.
I am creating a form, that has a drop-down box that looks up the Last Name
in sharepoint contacts. Now, that works, but I want that when I select a
name, it automaticly fills in some other values, like First Name and email.
The First Name and email are regular text box who cannot be edited (read
only).
Anyone who can help me with this?

Hi
I am fairly new as well so I will give you my solution that works for me.
Someone else might have a better solution.

I have used the "Rules..." in the text box properties.
In the "Set Condition..." make the first box "select a field or box" and
click on the field for the name then "OK". make the second box "is equal to"
and in the third box
"type a text" and type the name you want to specify.  (By the way you have
to do this for each name).  Then "OK"
In the "Add Action" make the action "=fx Set a field's value".  In the
"Field:" indicate which field you want the action to show.  (ie where you
want the email to go).  In the "Value" make the function say what you want it
to say. Either in concat or by just using quotes.  Click "OK" after you are
done.
Just a helpful hint.  Name each Rule to specify each person.  Then click "OK"
Just keep Adding each name.
Another Note.  You can't change the field value of the control that
initiates a control value change event.
And then just make the text box "read only" on the Properties - Display.
I hope that this works.
Just try a few to see if it works the way that you want it to.
