I have created many Infopath forms with multiple optional sections on them.
Each section is directly below the previous one, yet when I preview the form
or fill it out and print it, I get extra spaces between some of the sections.
This didn't start happening until recently, and I can't figure out what is
causing it. I have tried everything I can thing of to get rid of the extra
spaces, but to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sandy,
Have you tried laying your optional sections out in a table this way they
should not attempt to create any extra space between them.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Ben,
Thanks for your suggestion. I just tried it, but I still get the same
result. I didn't mention it before, but each of my optional sections
contains a repeating section. The extra space, when it occurs, appears
between the bottom of my repeating section and the "Insert item" line. I
have compared properties on all the optional and repeating sections which
appear correctly with the ones which have extra spaces, and they are
identical. They also look identical until I switch to preview mode.

By default, sections have padding and margins and a 1pt white border associated with them. You need to remove the border and set each of the padding and margin values to 0. The margins and padding are in the section properties dialog box.

Greg,
Believe it or not, I did all this yesterday when someone in another
discussion group suggested I try it. Unfortunately, this did not change the
situation. Thanks anyway.

I finally stumbled onto the solution to my problem, though I still don't know
what caused it. If I go to the bottom of my repeating section and click
Delete, my extra spaces disappear in Preview mode. The strange thing is that
when I click Delete, nothing changes in Design view because nothing is there
to delete. The fact that these forms used to lack the extra spaces and I
have done nothing to them since then, and the fact that all of my 50 plus
forms now have this new problem reinforces my belief that I did not cause
this to happen. I wonder if the latest updates could have something to do
with this? Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions. If anyone figures out
what causes this problem, please let me know. Thanks again.
