We are porting an app from lotus notes to InfoPath, and today we discovered that lotus notes actually have a read mode and edit mode, this means when a form is in read mode, all the controls will disappear, and the text values of the controls will stay there, which is a very nice feature. (Just like a report)

I don't think this is available in InfoPath, I don't think that even the conditional formatting will help me here, I must redesign the view twice, using the conditional formatting there is no way to make a combo box read only, just disabled, and that looks ugly.

Please have it in the next release, or let me know if it's possible now.

Thank you

Create a 2nd view named "Read Only"
Select and copy the entire "Edit" view when you are done with it and paste it into your 'Read Only' view.

Then, right click controls (like the combo box) and select "Change to..." Text Field.

You might also want to try using Expression boxes to concatenate multiple text fields for a cleaner look.

Finally, right click a control and select Borders and Shading. Set the border to None.

Another thought, the Read Only view would also be great to use as the Print view.
