I'm getting the standard read-only message when trying to open my form
from SharePoint, but the list of users is large and I wanted to
pinpoint who has the form open without sending an email to the entire
group.  Does anyone know how I can do that?

Ok, I figured it out.  I was avoiding using the check out feature and
just had people open the form.  I did not realize the form was
automatically put into checked out status so I just added that column
back to sharepoint so I can see who was the form out.

Actually, never mind, that only seems to work if someone checked out
the form.  So back to my question, if no one checked out the form but
did open it up, it prevents anyone from modifying it and the form opens
as read-only.  In those situations, how can I tell who has the form
open?
