When I go through the whole bit of building an InfoPath template based on a
data connection to a web service, drop the query fields and data fields in
the proper place then try to previw the form I get the error *selected data
file does not match current form template* with the details saying *InfoPath
cannot create a new, blank form. The form template is not valid. Element
'{http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/changeTracking}originalData'
is unexpected according to content model of parent element
'{http://www.tempuri.org/Hours.xsd}EmployeeActivities'.*

I'm feeling pretty sure I selected the right elements in the data connection
wizard and when dropping the fields in the form.

Does anyone know anything about this error?

No ... I have not even published nor saved it in the first place ... I
figured "it's wrong ... why bother?"  I'll give that a try

OK - I saved it then reopened it and tried to fill it out but I get the same
error

It's published on my PC ... the same box that the web service resides on.

On a side note ... Yesterday I tried to install the Infopath SDK ... and
failed ... I'm starting to wonder if that process added that schema import
somehow.  Just thinking out loud, don't you know :)

OK - It's not the SDK ... I got rid of all that

OK - I've got it.  When I include in the web service the line

dsHours.DataSetName = "ActivityHours"

then I don't get the error.  When not present, I get the error
