The goal of the Microsoft® Office “12” Forms Server® is to provide a Web
browser form-filling experience, otherwise referred to as a “reach”
experience, for computers that do not have the Microsoft® Office “12”
InfoPath® client installed. This Web experience is built as a feature on top
of the project Code Name Microsoft® Windows® SharePoint® Services "3.0"
platform.
InfoPath form templates (.xsn files) created in the Office “12” InfoPath
design mode are translated into browser-editable forms that run on the Office
Forms Server. Form templates with custom business logic are deployed by an
administrator into the WSS Content DB, and safe-listed in the WSS Config DB.
Each form template has a corresponding hash fingerprint to prevent tampering.
Form templates are managed through a global list of form templates in the
SharePoint Central Administration form template management page.

also view them in a browser.
