I am trying to sum the values of a column in a repeating table, in the footer
of that thable. But I don't see the formula button fx, next to the default
value text box, or add a rule button, under data validation button.

Hi Ghazi,
I recommend that you draw the footer as a separate table that is right
next to the repeating table and then place you textbox within that.  Is
this 2007?
I've never seen a textbox without an fx button myself....
cheers
Bruce

Thanks hurtlingturtle.

I tried that too but there is no such button (fx or rule) there. I have also
a few text boxes outside tables but there too, those buttons are not present.

I am using InfoPath 2003. Maybe this feature is only present in 2007 but
I've found replies to the same question dated 2004 and 2005.

Hi,

I found out what was wrong. You have to install Service Pack 1 (or higher)
to get the fx or rule buttons.
