Has anyone had any luck integrating/linking data between InfoPath and MapPoint?
I am trying to find out if it is possible to associate an audit checklist
with pushpin data in MapPoint. Possibly by way of hyperlink?...

Example:
An inspector shows up to a jobsite/pushpin on his MapPoint route, clicks the
pushpin to open the appropriate InfoPath audit checklist with the customer
info pre-populated in the appropriate fields.
Inspector completes checklist fields, attaches photos, and clicks submit to
submit data to database.

I have been trying to develop this data collection for years now and I feel
InfoPath might be the tool....How often do you guys here that? Alot I bet!

Any suggestions on this are much appreciated!

Hi

As Map Point is a web service you could work the proces the other way
around.

You could link an Audit Infopath form to the web service to pull back
instances where the audit form has not been pulled in.  Allow the user to
select which of the instances they wish to complete at this site and then
fill it in and submit.

If all the data for the customer details is in MapPoint then via the web
service it can push that data into the fields on the form after an instance
has been selected for customer name etc. inspector can then fill out check
fields, attach photos and submit all the data bar the photos to the database.
(If you want you could link to the customer by the GPS location.  so they
type in the GPS location and job done)

I hope this helps any further questions mail me at

Hi again

Just read a bit more about mappoint and it is natively .XML meaning it can
interface with Infopath Superbly.

I imagine that your auditors would open infopath before the journey started
which has a mappoint window inside it.  As the driver gets near customers it
would highlight which ones are near and once the driver stops select the
nearest business data.

Sounds like they marry up ideally

Hi

Dug a little deeper and on this site

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/mappoint2006/AL
LSupportedDataSources.asp?frame=true

It says pushpins can be imported into other programs but not linked to.

Cheers Adam
