Can anyone tell me why Text controls such as italic and bold are greyed out
in the conditional formatting section of a repeating table?

I just can't figure out how to make it work . . . .

Repeating Table could contain other controls(italic and bold cannot be
applied to them), such as dropdown box.
Maybe you need to set the format of the text controls in repeating table one
by one.
