Infopath is slowly becoming the product of choice for form design. The more
people integrate SharePoint into their everyday lives, the more people find a
use for Infopath's many functions. One function sorely lacking is
"Autonumbering".

I do not know how to tie in SQL or Access or Stored Procedures with Infopath
and I am sure many people out there are in the same situation as I am. It
would be a coup for Microsoft if they write a function such as the many
functions that already exist (now(), concat(), number(), etc.) that
automatically creates a sequential number whenever a form is opened. That way
if more than one person opens the form at the same time function would be
smart enough to detect that, and would number the form accordingly.

Either that or write detailed instruction on how to do this using Access,
SQL or SharePoint and attach it to any documentation that comes with
Infopath. Most of the help people offer here assumes that users know these
other products in depth and that is just not true.

So next release?????

Thanks,
Socaprice
