modifing the find function

I would like to know how to set up a button that will open an input box and
search for a particular value in only one column.  This would be similar to
find but with a specific range( one column) and would ask find next at the
end.

I have great news for you!  FIND can be made to look at only one column.  
Just select the column before you pull-down:

Edit > Find
