Chrt Line formats

I have a monthly report, in which I bring in information from different work
books.  In the compiled workbook, I have quite a few charts in which I like
to show lines with a certain format that is consistent across the sheets.
e.g., line 1 is aways solid blue with solid blue diamond, line 5 is always
dotted blue with open diamond.

My problem starts when I bring in new information from different sheet, I
lose some of the line formatting.  I have set up all the related workbooks so
that all of them have the line color and fill colors 1 - thru 8.  Yet the
reformatting of my charts continue.

All help would be most appreciated.

Hi Ajay,

My preferred approach is to have a small number of charts correctly
formatted for a report, and then link the data from different workbooks as
required.

A sample for this type of report is shown at

Ed:  You do have quite a collection of very useful formats.  In my case, is
there a way to prevent reformatting of lines every month.  My updates are
based on reads from project for which I provide monthly updates.  I guess, if
I further pinpoint my problem, it might help solution providers.

I think, the reformatting happens after I break links with the related
workbooks.  Even though, I have taken care to have same color schemes on all
workbooks, when I copy a sheet from individual report to aggregated report, I
break the links before e-mailing the new aggregated sheet.  As soon as I
break the link, the aggregated sheet's chart has some of its line reformatted.
