When I clik on an Excel book, the program opens but no file is shown.  I have
the option Ignore other applications unselected.

Do they open from inside of Excel?

Thanks,
Shane

hi
based on your limited explanation, i am assuming that you are trying to open
excel files from the desktop.
can you open the file from excel ie file>open? if so, we can assume that
excel is not corrupted and excel is not the problem.\
your link(s) may have gotten corrupted which is a windows problem.
see this link.

instead of clicking the file and opening try to open the file from programme

Start excel, click on open or press ctrl-o, select the file you want to open.
