On worksheet, sheet tabs disappear from view, - in normal view or any other
view. Horizontal scroll bar is ticked.  If I click on Full screen view I can
see the sheet tabs, but not the toolbars at the top of the page.  Any
suggestions please?

Maybe resizing the window would help.

Window|Arrange|tiled
(and resize the windows the way you like.)

If that doesn't help, is there any chance that the horizontal scrollbar is
covering the sheet tabs.  It's resizable, so you can just grab it by its left
edge and drag it to the right.
