trying to get the excel sheet to allow columns A and B to stay in one place
yet allow C thru infinity to move right and left with the scroll bar

Move the cell pointer to C1 if you only want to lock columns, or C2 if you
want to lock Columns A and B and row 1.

Click WINDOW on the menu and select FREEZE PANES.

To undo this just click WINDOW in the menu and select UNFREEZE PANES.  You
don't have to be anywhere special to unfreeze the pane.
