Several other threads have mentioned this. On a brand new Dell laptop
running Excel 2007 and XP-Pro SP2, Excel keeps building up .tmp files each
time a file is modified. The laptop uses AVG, but "On-close scanning" is
unchecked. The files are all stored on the local C: drive and they are not
shared. The .tmp files can be manually deleted, but it's a PITA!
I doubt that this is an AVG problem as has been suggested before since we
have AVG with the exact same settings on nearly 100 computers in our company.
The effected one is the only one with Excel 2007. All the others run older
versions and have no problem.

Hi Ron
If you start Excel in Safe mode do you have the same problem then
Hold the Ctrl key when you open Excel and say yes in the dialog to start in Safe mode
