Microsoft!  You fixed one of my pet peeves about Outlook 2003 and earlier
which was a delayed polling of mail (polled well after program startup
unless I manually clicked on send/receive) and this is fixed in Outlook
2007!  Thank you very much!

Eh? My Outlook 2003 polls as soon as I start it.(As did 2002 and 2000)
Did you set a polling time in Send/Receive settings?

Gordon,

I should have made it more clear - POP3 Mail polling was not instantaneous
in Outlook 2003 and earlier despite the setting being set.  I even spoke
with the Outlook program manager in Redmond about this back in 2002 and it
was set that way by design to delay the poll for 30 seconds.

I've just opened Outlook 2003, TEN seconds between clicking the icon and
the finish of polling 4 POP accounts, all on different servers. It's NOT
set to a 30 second delay  by design. The "program manager"s comments
indicates yet again that MS know squat about their own programs....

Ditto for me and 3 POP3 accts on 2003... actually took about 6 seconds due
to no messages...   ;-)

So basically, the OP has shelled out for Office 2007 for no reason.....

Well, at least not for this particular reason.

He got some nice new ribbons :)
I agree. Automatic polling works the same in all versions. There is no
"built in" delay in any version.
