Dear All,

(I am sorry if this post appears more than once but I am getting a proxy
error when sending it!)

I am using Outlook 2003 (but I think this does not matter since all the
Outlook versions have roughly the same interface) and I would like to have an
additional column next to my Inbox e-mails that I can add free text to, that
shows me progress on this e-mail. I had envisaged a right click over the
e-mail and see a entry for my custom field like "categories" to add comments
relating to this e-mail.

It is not difficult to create these custom fields but how can I set one up
that will allow me to easily add my own comments?

Thanks again.

You'd need to create a new table view, turn on in-cell editing, and add your field as a column in that view.
