Hi Roady,
I reset outlook to use outlook as email editor and still get the same
unknown error when I try to click on the "to" or "cc" field

Robert,
another weird thing is happening, when I am on a website and click on an
email address to send email,, i get "operation Failed"
like outlook doesnt recongnise the address link???
help!!!

Remove the Outlook Address Book service restart Outlook and then add it
again.

this morning I addedd 'personal address book' and it worked

The Personal Address Book service is long obsolete and doesn'e even exist in
Outlook 2007. You should move your PAB entries to your Contacts folder.
