How do I get Outlook to open in one window; not four?

Suddenly, Outlook began opening in four windows instead of one.  If I close
one, they all close.  Some will update new messages; others won't.

Outlook version?  Are you using the X or File->Exit to close Outlook?  If you use File->Exit, do you still get multiple windows on next open?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact.  All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

It doesn't matter how I close it; it still opens in four windows regardless.
