I have been out of town for over a month when suddenly I could not receive
any emails. I thought the problem would solve itself when I returned to my
home wireless, but I am still having problems connecting.  So I tried some
problem solving on my own to no avail.

This is the error message I get when I went into Tools/Email Accounts/View
or Change.

Errors:  Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): The specified server was
found, but there was no response from the server. Please verify that the port
and SSL information is correct. To access these settings close this dialog,
then click More Settings and click on the Advanced tab.

OK, I did that.  Under the Advanced tab, the Incoming server (POP3): = 110
and Outgoing server (SMTP): = 25.  Nothing is checked in this menu.  I hit
the "Use Defaults" and tried it but it still doesn't work.

I use Charter and can access and send emails from the Internet, but nothing
happens in Outlook.  I turned off my Norton Anti-Virus for 15 minutes to see
if that was the cause, but I still can't receive.

I am not literate when it comes to firewalls and settings, so is there
anyone who could help me out?  I read some of the posted messages, but I
didn't see anything like mine.

Thank you in advance!

According to Charter make sure you setup your Incoming and outgoing server
to the following,

Type your incoming mail server name: pop.charter.net.
Type your outgoing mail server name: smtp.charter.net.

Also make sure My server requires authentacation is checked.  Best bet is to
contact Charter as they could solve this quicker.

I did call Charter and they said as long as my webmail was working that's as
much as they could do.  The automated "aid" also said that both my incoming
and outgoing mail server name should be:  pop.charter.net.  I had it as you
described below. This I did and tested the settings.  I check the "My server
requires authentacation" box and this did not help. I am really stumped.

Bypass the wireless router and hook dirrectly to the cable and see if your
router is blocking you.  Mybe you need to flash the router with an update.  I
have seen weird issues with routers before.  Sounds like you got everything
else nailed down, must be the router blocking your access or if you have
firewall service diable it and try.

Password to what? Outlook.  Who is your provider?  You will need to contact
them to reset it.  My wife did that for her yahoo account and they asked a
few account questions and then reset her password.

Back to my problem ... it has been solved!!  I had an alert from SpyBot that
had something to do with email problems.  So I disabled and shut it down,
went back to OUtlook, and was able to retrieve ALL of my emails!  Thanks for
trying to help.
