Is there a way to set up a rule to delete messages in the "Deleted" folder
based on the date deleted?  I am aware that you can set up Outlook to delete
messages in the "Deleted" folder upon exit.  However, I like to keep the
messages in the trash for a week just in case I might need them.  At the end
of the week, I have been manually deleting them, but I would prefer to have
this automated.  I haven't been successful in tinkering with the rules to set
up a rule base on folder location and date, only by sender regardless of the
folder.

Help!!!

Use AutoArchive on the Deleted Items folder (right-click the folder, choose
Properties, then AutoArchive) to delete the older messages.

Thank you for the info.  However, I am using Outlook in a corporate
environment and it appears that I am prevented from using the autoarchive
functionality.  They use another program to do all of the archiving and I
think that program prevents any other archive program from running.  I don't
even see the autoarchive tab when looking at the properties of the deleted
items folder.

Then you're out of luck.
