In a new email, if I clik on the "To" button it brings up the select names
dialog box, there are 257 sets of emtpy parentheses before my actual contact
names.  Does anyone know why and/or how I get rid of them.

Which Contacts folder is the Address Book referencing?  Do you have more
than one?  Have you examined the E-mail field in those Contacts folders?
