Sometimes this type of thing happens (although 100x is extreme) when there
is a problem with your mail server when it's trying to acces the message
"behind" or "after" the one you're receiving so many times.  And the mail
server does not delete any messages until all messages are received
successfully.  So if there is a problem with one of the messages, it will
just try to keep resending.

So, I would try to access your mail server directly (usually via the web
instead of using Outlook) and make sure there isn't a REALLY large file
trying to come through.  If so, delete it and then try Outlook.

Also, this could just be spam.

Are you scanning your incoming emails with a AV like Norton?? Disable the email integration of your AV and test
