OS is XP Pro.  When outloook 03 stops responding (too often) and error
message dialogue box comes up it shows the problem files to be in:

local settings\temp\WER0852.dir00\OUTLOOK.EXE.mdmp    and
local settings\temp\WER0852.dir00\appcompat.txt

when searching the C drive for these files I am told they are not there and
may be on a related network but this computer is not on a network other than
through its T-W cable modem internet connection.  Something is gumming up the
works badly on Outlook as e-mail messages open extremely slowly and I had to
fully close the viewing pane for e-mail messages as that function pretty much
made outlook unusably slow.  Any insight or assistance is appreciated on
this.  Thanks.

Did this just start happening?  If so, what changes did you make to your
Outlook installation and/or Windows before it started?  (Think Microsoft
updates and things like that...)

I have had this problem for quite a while now - well over a month.  No
glaring changes of note other than typical MS updates that automatically
download.

The two files you mentioned in your original message are just log files; they
have nothing to do with the actual problem you're having.  Can you open
Outlook in Safe mode?  Click Start | Run and type in "outlook.exe /safe"
without the quotes but including the space.  Does it work properly then?
