Since installing MS Office 2003  I can no longer do any other work while
receiving an email!  This was not the case with the previous version.  I have
looked for a setting to allow spooling but cannot find it.  Undoubtedly, it
is caused by operator error but I am unable to identify the solution.  If I
am typing a new outgoing message I the keyboard is unresponsive until the
incoming message is complete.  If I am surfing the web, ditto.

What are your system specifications (CPU speed, RAM, operating system etc) ?
It might just be a bit too slow for Outlook.
Is there anything else running that might hog resources?

Dell x86 model 6 Family 8 Stepping 10.  128k RAM.  MS win 2000 SvcPk 4.  Six
years old. Same system I was running MSOffice 2000 on. May be time for a new
PC but since I need so little in the way of resources I am reluctant to spend
the money.  According to Task Manager there is nothing else hogging
resources.  I play no computer games.  Surf, Word, and Outlook.  However, I
get lots of "Not responding" hang-ups throughout the day.  Several a minute.
I have run McAfee, Onecare, Registry cleaner, deleted cookies and temp files,
and defraged the disk.  No apparent success.  Thanks for your interest and
response.

I'd say your specs are a bit low. A major difference would be if you used
Outlook 2000 in Internet Mail Only (IMO) mode and now can only have Outlook
in the much slower, single, CW- equivalent mode. IMO mode in Outlook 98 adn
2000 was about as responsive as Outlook Express.
Keeping the Outlook data file (PST) small by archiving and compacting and,
possibly, disabling add-ins might help. A bit more memory (if you can get
it) might also help.

Thanks, Bill.  Apparently, my PC is at the max for RAM.  I tried to add more
but was told I could not.  This problem is not the end of the world.  I just
have to sit and wait until all emails are loaded.  The "not responding"
problem is another problem and not related to Outlook.  I have posted it on
the MS win 2000 site.  Thanks, again.
