winmail.dat cannot be stopped even after followin all help files

new instalation of vista prem with office 2003 all help fails to stop
winmail.dat files being sent even to hotmail, somewhere there is a box
setting which version of office my recients will use I set this to 2003 but
cant find it again this was when the problem started.

you need to ensure you do not send in Rich Text Format.
There is no setting wrt the versions of Outlook. It's a mail format issue.
Look in Tools | Options | Mail Format tab. You want outlook to convert rtf
to html.

Thanks your answer showed up a prob in my comp , the mouse was not activating
the apply button when i changed to plain text or html, hense changes were not
being applied.
