Outlook 2007 - Sending message 5 of 5

I have recently upgraded my MSO2K3 installation to 2007 on a Vista Ultimate
platform. Every time i send a SINGLE email (by clicking on send / receive)
the Outlook status bar in the BRHC reports. "Sending message 5 of 5". This
behaviour is consistent and repeatable. Thoughts?
Thanks

Some further info...
This seems to be realted to the number of accounts set up in the system. I
have removed 3 accounts and now the message says "Sending message 2 of 2". I
also have some rules set up to copy mails to other folders. Could this be
part of the problem?

When you do an upgrade to Office 2007, you should create a new mail profile
for Outlook to use.

Thanks for this...2 observations...
a.) If this is necessary why is there no mention of it during the upgrade
process (or indeed why doesn't it happen automatically?)

b.) I created new profile and added all the accounts. Tried a test
send...behaviour just as it was...sending 5 of 5!

That should be automatically performed by the upgrade process.

I my case, I have 8 accounts, but the sending message n of m varies from 4 to
11.

Outlook 2007 miscounts the number of outgoing messages when you have
multiple accounts.  It's not, however, actually trying to send too many
messages.

Email even from home users needs to be auditable. If I send 12 messages, I
expect my mail program to properly report that number. Otherwise, I don't
trust it. That would be one way to detect that something is sneaking messages
(stealing my info, bandwidth, etc.?) out.

I'm having a similar experience. I'm using MSO 2007 on Vista. My outbox is
empty, but it reports "Sending message n of m". As a matter of security, all
email products (esp. a flagship product like Outlook) should provide a method
to journal header info on all messages (including the various read receipts,
handshakes, etc.) sent and received. The Outlook's troubleshooting logs do
not seem to contain that information.

My outbox is empty. I expect read receipts, etc. to be placed in the outbox
(for security and transparency there should be NO hidden messages, period).

Who runs www.howto-outlook.com? I don't download anything from a site that
I'm not familar with.

Nonetheless, receipts are hidden messages and you won't see them in the
Outbox

It's run by one of the Outlook MVPs who posts here under the handle "Roady"

Thanks, I'll give that I try.

I apoligize for being too abrupt. Being a mainframe system's programmer for
30 years, where in the mainframe world, nothing is hidden from the the
system's programmers, and everything is expected to be RAS (Reliable,
Available, and Secure), period.

By the way, the tool Robert describes is from Microsoft.  Hover over the
link and you'll see that.  Do you trust Microsoft?

Good point. I should have noticed that it was from Microsoft. Yes, I trust
Microsoft as much as I trust IBM, HP, etc. They all have a public image that
they want to maintain. All are trying to maximize their profits , but you
better read the fine print in their agreements, etc. Of course, bad behavior
slips into even these companies, but they tend to get corrected. Alas, I'm
drifting off the forum's topic.

The utility seems to be for an Exchange environment (which I'm not), but I
tried executing it anyway. The logon screen has the word NULL and it does not
proceed for there.

Thanks,
