Auto Correct in Outlook 2003

I would like to have a few auto correct text choices when I type.  However
after following the directions in "help"- I discovered that the box "replace
text as you type" was already checked.  When I added a correction to the
dictionary...it still will not work.  I think I must be missing a step
somewhere.

Another question:

Also, I checked to see if Word was the editor for my e-mail and it is
"greyed" out and it only says "html".  How do you make word your e-mail
editor?

Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated.

I was having the same problem, but when I changed the format to RTF
instead of HTML, the autocorrect options all started to work for me. I
do NOT use (nor want) Word as my email format so this solves the
problem.

I suspect the reason it works is because  RTF is a generic Word-like
format, so it can use the Word autocorrect, whereas HTML is not. Dunno
for sure tho, but who cares as long as it works :)
