new message notification (envelope icon) not showing in system tra

The option to have Outlook 2003 place an envelope icon in the system tray is
check off but it is not working (it used to work but just stopped).  Any
suggestions?  Thanks.

uncheck it. close Outlook. Open Outlook. recheck it. Close Outlook. Open
Outlook. ad infinitum if you want fun.

Unfortunately this did not work.  Do I need to also reboot the computer? Any
other suggestions - it doesn't make sense that it isn't working anymore.

It has always been "iffy".
heck your system tray settings. that notification might be hidden.

The problem was with the system tray settings.  I right clicked on top of the
"show hidden icons" arrow in the system tray.  I then clicked on "Customize
Notification Icons".  I then changed the "you have new unopened items" icon
to "show".  I am now set.  Thanks!!
