uncheck it. close Outlook. Open Outlook. recheck it. Close Outlook. Open
Outlook. ad infinitum if you want fun.
Unfortunately this did not work. Do I need to also reboot the computer? Any
other suggestions - it doesn't make sense that it isn't working anymore.
Thanks.

The problem was with the system tray settings. I right clicked on top of the
"show hidden icons" arrow in the system tray. I then clicked on "Customize
Notification Icons". I then changed the "you have new unopened items" icon
to "show". I am now set. Thanks!!
