I have Outlook 2002 and have been copying all my pst files to external drive
for years.  Now, each time I copy, I get a message with Dialogue Box titled,
"Confirm Stream Loss. " Says: "The file Outlook pst has extra information
attached to it that might be lost if you continue copying.  The contents of
the file will not be affected.  Information that might be lost includes:"
Inside box within box, says, " Document Summary Information."  I've been
checking Proceed Anyway, Yes to All.  Is there any danger to what I'm doing?
What kind of information is affected?  Is there a way to fix this error?

How are you copying the PST files?

I right click on a folder I've named Outlook which contains Archive.pst,
Outlook 1.pst, Outlook.pst, Outlook2.pst, and Extend.dat.  I send to my
External Drive.  (If it's of any importance, I notice when I actually use
Outlook, I see that I somehow have two identical copies of Outlook)

Well, first, I'm assuming you've verified that Outlook is no longer running
by going into Task Manager and checking the Processes list.

But, that said, it's really a windows issue, file system specifically.  Read
http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread48384.html for a pretty good description
of the 'problem'.  The PST file itself is fine.  It's just meta data about
the file that is being lost because the format of the USB key is not the
same format as the HD.

Thank you for clearing this up.  The articles are very helpful.  Two further
questions on this.
(1) Why is this suddenly occurring after no issue for years?
(2) When I do my weekly copy/back-up, Outlook pst files are just part of my
entire  10+ minute session, which also includes My Documents, etc.  The
Dialogue Box pops up right in the middle, requiring me to check Proceed
Anyway, so now I can't just walk away at the beginning and return to a
completed session.  Is there any way to make the Dialogue Box go away so
there is no interrruption?
