Dual Boot XP Vista - sharing 2003/2007

I have recently installed Vista with Outlook 2007 on the second partition of
my XP (w/Outlook 2003) macine as many have done recently. This is on my
company laptop. From everything I have researched on the net , sharing email
accounts require pointing one directory to anothers .pst file.
We use cache mode on Exchange(2003) instead of pulling the messages off the
server. From what I my admin has told me Outlook does not require the pst
(only for archiving?). Do I need to do the same for my .ost file in order to
be able to access the same account from either partition without long term
trouble. So far through one day each cache updated fine.
What steps do I need to take to make this possible?  If it is indeed
possible. Or do I not have to do anything at all?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,

Jeff T

No, you cannot share the .ost file as the security settings on it correspond to your specific Outlook 2003 or 2007 profile.

In that case , what are the long term issues of continuing with my current
configuration?
As long as the caches are updating okay , what other difficulties am I
looking at?

Thanks Brian,

Do you want to call my Network Admin and tell him?

I'll let you do that.

With Excahnge accounts, you don't vene need OSTs, if you don't want them.
They enhance performance, but are strictly necessary.  Turn off Cached
Exchange mode and you don't need them.

Brian from your post "...if you don't want them. They enhance performance,

Confusing to me are "and you don't need them...." and   "but are strictly
necessary". ?

I just washed my hands and can't do anything with them.

Let me reinterpret the above.

With Exchange accounts you don't even need OSTs, if you don't want them.
They enhance performance, but aren't strictly necessary.  Turn off Cached
Exchange mode and you don't need them.
