Outlook 2007 and Yahoo! Mail

According to this website, I am able to access Yahoo! Mail using Outlook 2007
using a "partner ISP"...
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA010982531033.aspx?pid=CH063565691033.

However, after putting in all the server information for my account (the
account with the partner ISP is verizon.net), I still can't connect to my
Yahoo! Mail.  According to the website, the servers are:
incoming.yahoo.verizon.net and outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net, and it's still not
working.  It keeps asking for my logon password, and no matter how many times
I enter it, it still says it can't log me on.

Any suggestions?

From the Yahoo mail section:
You can use Outlook with many Yahoo! Mail e-mail accounts. However, free Web
browser-based Yahoo! Mail accounts based in China, Taiwan, or the United
States can only be used in Outlook if you have a paid subscription Yahoo!
Mail account that includes POP3 access and forwarding.

Do you have a paid-for Yahoo account?
VinnyD. - 29 Aug 2007 09:16 GMT
No, I don't have a Yahoo! Plus account.  According to the website, I don't
need once since I have an account with a Yahoo! Partnered ISP (Verizon).

I have to say that the website seemed very confusing to me.......

If you have a Yahoo-partnered ISP, then the mail server names will be
something like pop.verizon.yahoo.com and smtp.verizon.yahoo.com.  In other
words, they'll be Yahoo's domain, not Verizon's.  For example, AT&T and BT
Internet are Yahoo-partnered ISPs and they use xxx.att.yahoo.com and
xxx.btinternet.yahoo.com for the server names.

What is the web site where you read what servers to use?

If you mean that the above web site says that these are the servers you
should use, then you are mistaken.  That web site names the Verizon servers
as incoming.verizon.net and outgoing.verizon.net.  Yahoo has nothing to do
with it.  I do not believe Verizon is a Yahoo-partnered ISP and the web page
you cite does not mention that it is.

Brian,

The webpage is as follows:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA011133141033.aspx?pid=CH063565691033

If this link is still not showing the servers, then just go to
office.microsoft.com and do a search for outlook and yahoo! and you'll see a
header that says "Using Outlook with Yahoo! Mail.

Thanks.

OK.  While the server names don't follow the standard Yahoo partner format,
they do exist.

$ nslookup incoming.yahoo.verizon.net

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    pop.vzn.mail.yahoo4.akadns.NET
Address:  209.73.179.149
Aliases:  INCOMING.YAHOO.VERIZON.NET, pop-vzn.mail.yahoo.com

$ nslookup outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    smtp.vzn.mail.yahoo4.akadns.NET
Address:  209.73.179.152
Aliases:  OUTGOING.YAHOO.VERIZON.NET, smtp-vzn.mail.yahoo.com

What is the exact text of the error messages?

I don't get an error message.  After I enter all the server
(incoming.yahoo.verizon.net/outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net) and logon information
(yahoo username), as stated on the web page, I am constantly asked for my
password.  No matter what password I put in, it won't take.  Should the email
address be the "yahoo! mail" email address or something else?  Should it be
the Verizon email address?  I'm obviously doing something wrong.

The user name, according to the site, should be [{your Yahoo ID}
@Verizon.net]

Are you using as your log on {your yahoo user ID}@verizon.net?
