How can I set up outlook email to show check boxes next to the messages.?That
way I can read down, check many boxes, and delete them all with one click. I
am using the latest student version of Office in XP.

Pretty sure you can't.  I don't think even an add-in would be able to
provide this functionality.  Personally, I'd click on the first one, then
hold down the shift key and click on the last one and hit delete.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. Not all of the ones I want to delete are
sequential. Why would the full-featured outlook be less functional than the
give-away outlook express? Is there a rational reason for it?

Umm I don't recall any "checkboxes" next to messages in OE, either........
You can select multiple messages using Ctl-click and then delete them

And I've just looked at my own copy of OE - and yes here are NO "checkboxes"
next to mail messages. You must have added a third-party application if you
have them.

Then use CTRL-click.

Outlook Express doesn't have checkboxes either.

Well, lets see..

Non-sequential?  Do the shift like I said to select all and then Control
click to unselect individual items from the list, if the selected items
would outnumber the unselected.  Or just control-click if it's the opposite.

And like others said, OE doesn't have this functionality.  And, even if it
did, it's a completely, totally, 100% different product.  It has absolutely
no relation to Outlook apart from the word 'outlook'.  It is sort of like
the relationship between WordPad and Word.  None.
