Bear in mind that the For Follow Up folder is not a real folder. It is a
search context that looks in your other folders for messages on which the
follow-up flag has been set. Your message must be in a real folder in order
to exist at all.

Without third-party tools, reminders pop up only for Calendar, Contacts,
Inbox, and Tasks, as far as I know. If they work for you in Sent Items as
well, great.
