I have a user that is having an issue that his e-mail won't resolve when it
is typed in the To: (I have read this forum and can't seem to find how to
turn it on)

1. I put in "John Doe" - doesn't resolve
2. I put in John.doe@email.com - it resolves
However, following the same protocol
1. I put in "John Doe"  - doesn't resolve
2. I put in jjdoe@email.ca - doesn't resolve
3. I put in Doe John- doesn't resolve
4. I put in Do, John- it finally resolves

I was told earlier that once I sent an email to someone it would be 'saved'
and then when resending it would recognize it, but this isnt' happening.
I've had the Outlook profile rebuilt several times and even had my windows
profile rebuilt…. Still not working.

I'm definetly open to any other suggestions

Could you clarify what you mean by resolve?  You mean hitting Control - K
and having it pull the person from the Contacts folder/GAL?  Or do you mean
the list of suggested addresses you get as you type in the To field?

If the former, where does the Contact live?  Is this an Exchange
environment?

This user is in an Exchange environment.  What I mean is if I type in John
Doe and tab out and starting writing the e-mail it resolves automatically
without having to click check names or ctrl k.

After I posted this I started playing around with features, I did get it to
work but it won't work with the Cached Exchange Mode on. So I still have the
problems, as we need to have the check mark there/

Ok, that's the same as check names, control k, I was just trying to verify
you were resolving against the GAL/Contacts and not the auto-complete list,
which many people will interchange.  While troubleshooting, you might find
Control-K to be faster than just waiting.

It is just this one user?  What happens if the user tries a different
machine?  What about OWA?

I'm going to guess that if he does try another machine that it is going to
work fine.  Myself, I have the cached exchange check marked (works fine) as
well as other users have it setup an it works fine.  Other t/s has involved
in re-creating the windows profile, exchange profile.  Everything BUT wiping
the PC clean an starting freash.

Other forums I have read have mentioned that there is a "bug" with cached
Exchange and that auto resolution.  I just would like to know if there is a
patch that can be downloaded, a registry fix that I can do...anything along
those lines.  Thanks for the help!

I never make assumptions like that.  What happens if a different user sets
up a messaging profile on his machine?  Does that work?

I don't know of any bug, but unless you've heard it from a Microsoft
employee or read it in a KB article, I wouldn't trust a forum mention of a
bug.
