WHat have you tried in your attempts to repair?  Have you tried a new mail
profile?  Have you tried Help>Detect and Repair from any other Office app?

When i click on the icon to open - it opens then a message comes up to say
that office has encountered a problem and needs to close.  I cant even try to
click on the help button as the programme then automatically closes.

Is this for ANY Office application?  If so, use Add/Remove Programs in
Control Panel to perform the repair.

Did a repair on my outlook.bak as it had errors.  Fixed
Outlook.pst had no errors

Busy with Run the detect and repair under Add/Remove Programs - will advise

Run the detect and repair under Add/Remove Programs - done!

But problem still persists.  Even rebooted the machine to see but no go.  As
soon as it opens it says it has encountered a problem and needs to close.  I
have run out of ideas how to fix this.  Any help?

I don't see any post where you say you tried a new mail profile.  Do that.

I am receiving mail under Outlook Express but not under Microsoft Office
Outlook 2003 - how come?

Since Outlook and Outlook Express are not related (except in some of their
functions), I'd expect them to behave differently.  Your question is similar
to "I can create HTML with Word but not with Notepad.  Why?"

Alas, I can't think of any other suggestions except to completely remove
Outlook, delete the existing mail profiles, and reinstall, but that may not
help, either.  Perhaps someone else will have a suggestion.
