SENT messages stuck in Outbox

This is a little different that what I've seen posted. Occasionally, my
messages get stuck in the Outbox, BUT they are still sent successfully. They
appear in my Sent folder, I get "out of office" replies (when applicable),
and I've confirmed with a few of the recipients that they did in fact receive
the message. I also have no problem deleting the residue from my Outbox.
Any idea why this occurs? I'm using 2003.

Usually this is caused by a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook.
Disable this integration and see if it still happens.
