Hi,

I have a strange problem.  I just upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007
and I'm using Win XP.

I have a cable email account at home that requires you to be on their
network
to send email, though you can check email from anywhere.  So at work I have
an account setup in Outlook that checks it and leaves a copy on the server
so
I can get the email at home.  Occasionally my wife will schedule something
in
her Outlook and put my work email and my cable account as attendees and
fire it off.  When I accept this to put them on my calendar it tries to send
information back to her saying I've accepted it.  I'm not certain if this is
the cause
of my problem, but I wanted to mention this before hand in case it is.

My problem is, every time I SEND/RECEIVE I see down in the status bar
a message that says "Sending Message x of 16", where x counts up as it
iterates through messages.  Cool, except my outbox is empty.  This has been
going on for over 6 months, and I've noticed it's growing.  I noticed it at
3 messages, then 7, 10, and now 16.

If it is related to my cable email account, when i try to mistakenly reply
with
the same email account to an email, it just sits in my outbox erring until I
change
the account I'm sending with and it fires right out.

Since I've been noticing this problem, I've attempted to scrutanized my
calendar
events from my wife more closely, though some times hard when you get two
emails in, each saying 'John Smith', 'John Smith'.  You don't know which to
send a response to, and which one not to.

One final thing, I tried running PST repair on it, it said it found
problems, and
repaired them, but upon opening Outlook I received the same errors.

I tried searching online and newsgroups but couldn't find a similar post
anywhere.

I can't find anything anywhere that implies I have any thing waiting to
send.
How can I get rid of these phantom outbox items?

Thanks ahead of time,

Steven

Run scanpst until it finds no further errors. For example if it finds errors
and repairs then, run it again. When it has a complete run through with no
errors, then open Outlook again.
As for the items in your Outbox, these are likely read receipts:

Good luck!

Awesome.  The Read Receipts was the problem.  Thanks!

I had exact same problem, just follow the "Delete a stuck read reciept" and
it showed all the read replies that were stuck. Once deleted everything
worked correctly again
