I'm having some serious troubles with Outlook's memory usage. This is Outlook
2007, with BCM, and synched to Accounting. Everything is up-to-date.
System:
Vista Business
dual core 3.20 GHz
3 gig RAM
Main PST file is 1.8 GB, archive is 3.56 GB.
Under Active Application Add-ins, the items still listed are:
Business Contact Manager for Outlook
Microsoft Outlook Mobile Service
OneNote Notes bout Outlook Items
PDFMOtlook
Windows Search Email Indexer
Everything else is either inactive or disabled.
I'm having the usual issues of Outlook eating up more and more memory the
longer it runs. I have to restart it at least once a day. I restarted it just
a short while ago, maybe 40 minutes ago, and it's currently at 122,096K of
memory. When I shut it down last, it was at 700,000+ K. It climbs up pretty
steadily once it's running.
I suspect that the key issue is BCM and/or the integration with Accounting?
It seems the most likely culprit, at least. But I'm not entirely sure how to
go testing this. I'm not able to disable BCM through the Trust Center, and I
don't want to lose the data or links with Accounting. But I also am very much
tiring of having to restart Outlook all the time, as well as the lag in
response from Outlook even when it is running.

I'd suspect BCM as well, but I'd also consider disabling PDFMOutlook, some
versions of which have been known to cause issues with Outlook.

I'm not sure what this add-in does, nor how to disable it. It's one that,
through the trust center, won't let me turn it off. Any tips?

It's part of Adobe Acrobat and you can remove the addin in the Adobe setup
wizard (Add or Remove Programs>Adobe Acrobat>Change)

Thanks! That let me disable that. I'm now running Outlook in normal mode to
see how it goes.
I ran Outlook in safe mode for about 20 hours (before removing that add-in),
and it only reached about 350,000K. Still seems high, but it was still
running, and that's a small improvement. I'll let this run for a while, and
see where I'm at.
