Can't delete SPAM until it's already open

I can't delete SPAM until it's already open. If I right click, it opens
automatically. Any click at all on the email in the preview window opens it
right up. I would think there would be a way to just delete it w/o opening!
I looked at all the options and don't see anything that will help. Thanks
for any help.

Version of Outlook? In at least 2007, you can right click on messages and
delete without displaying in preview. I think Outlook 2003 works the same
way. Older versions do not. Turn off the preview pane if you don't want them
loading.
