i cant delete an email in my outbox its too big to send but cannot

when i try to open to delete or just to delete it , i get dialog box saying
its already transmitting so cant open , but it wont transmit, its way too
big, i should never have tried to send it, but now its blocking my other
emails and i cant send emails at all..please help, how do i remove it?

microsoft office outlook 2003 on windows xp pro

Click File and check "Work Offline".  Stop and restart Outlook.  Delete the
message from Outbox.  Click File and uncheck "Work Offline".
