I recently installed Office 12 Standard with Outlook 2007.  I copied my old
pst file to the default location.  when I start Outlook, the message "there
was a problem reading one or more of your reminder. Some reminders may not
appear." displays over the system tray.  In the Outlook today view there is a
pane that displays, "the operation failed.  An object could not be found."

I have set the properties of the personal folder to show the reminders.  I
have executed the cleanreminders and resetfolders as described in kb article
286166.  Since running these fixes reminders still do not fire.  Also I no
longer see the option to show the reminders in the properties of the personal
folder.

Did you overwrite an existing PST?  Did you manually connect the moved PST
to your mail profile?

Sounds like you corrupted your mail profile by incorrectly moving your PST.
Never overwrite an existing PST.  Start with a new mail profile and connect
your old PST correctly.
