No solution, but I have the same problem when I try to reply to someone's
message [NOT when I write a new message]. It is frustrating because I keep
forgetting and so type a few sentences and then the program quits.

You should turn in your ASR-33 for a real terminal.

Your "Subject:" line says, "Outlook Express", yet you are posting in an MS
Outlook group. The two are very different programs. MS Outlook Express help
can be found here:

public.outlookexpress.general

public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

Those are probably closest to your version.
