For many years, my outlook backups have consisted of importing the
data to a pst file which I then burn to cd.

I've been told that all the outlook email data actually resides under
the local profile and if I just back that up, I can backup the outlook
email data, along with favorites, etc, etc

What are the file names under the local profile that correspond to the
outlook data?

Thank you

Open Outlook Help and search for "Backup data".

You will find full instructions for downloading and using the Microsoft pst
Backup tool.
